3. Data Collection of our Services
3.1 Collection of Personal Data
Some of your data is collected when you provide it to us, for example, by creating a DocID account or entering data into a contact form.
3.2 Automatic Data Collection
Other data is automatically collected by our IT systems when you visit the website. This primarily includes technical data (e.g., internet browser, operating system, time of page access). This data is collected automatically as soon as you access our website.
4. Purpose of Data Collection
4.1. Access to Content for Healthcare Professionals
DocID users must provide proof of their status as members of the medical or healthcare professions. This verification is based on the personal data provided and stored by the user on DocID. Once verification is completed, users are granted access to content that, according to the German Act on Advertising in the Healthcare Sector (Heilmittelwerbegesetz, HWG), may only be made available to healthcare professionals. This includes, among other things, information on prescription-only medicines. The processing of personal data in this context is carried out for the performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and for compliance with legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
4.2. Transfer of User Data for Authentication with Partner Services
As part of the authentication services provided by DocID for partner services (third-party providers), it is necessary to transfer the user's personal data to these participating partner services for authentication purposes. This includes, in particular, the profile data required for identification (user's name, professional qualification, professional affiliation, institution), which are essential for the login process and the personalised use of the partner services.
Data is transferred exclusively to partner services that integrate the DocID authentication software. The transmission of this data is strictly necessary for the use of DocID’s authentication service and is therefore based on the performance of the user agreement in accordance with Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Users may manage and restrict the transfer of their personal data to individual partner services at any time. However, such restrictions will limit the availability of those specific services. A list of authorized partner services, as well as options to manage or restrict data transfers, is available to DocID users at the following link: Withdrawal of Partner Consents. If a restriction is applied, the transfer of data to the respective services will be stopped immediately. Please note that this may result in the inability to use certain partner services.
4.3. Analysis of Marketing Measures for Partner Services
We analyse specific usage data to assess the effectiveness of marketing and advertising efforts. These evaluations are shared with DocID partner services exclusively in an aggregated and anonymised format.
4.4. Personalised User Experience
To provide users of DocID with a personalized experience tailored to their interests and professional background, DocID evaluates the data provided by users. This ensures that only relevant content, recommendations, and services are shown to each individual user. This also applies to messages or newsletters sent by email, which are adapted accordingly as part of the DocID service. The legal basis for this is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR as well as the legitimate interest in providing a user-centric platform pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
